“Just the general weirdness, really”

Here’s another user from the forum (Daniel):

“For me it was the history in my browser. Whenever I went to check it it was blank. I rarely ever clear it and I knew it wasn’t me. So I supposed, at first, that it must be a bug.

I couldn’t find out anything about it. But I found other targets who had had similar issues. They said that it’s a common act of tidying. My doubts increased. It wasn’t till a load of other weird things started happening in my life (which I won’t go into here) that I was certain. It was two laptops and one phone that were taken.”

These stories flood the forum. Here’s another (Alastair) which illustrates my own progression.

“Just the general weirdness, really. Updates seemed to be when it got worse. I had that problem with the locked security settings — that’s what made me certain. Once, I flicked a switch, in settings, and it kept on flicking back again, like obviously somebody else was flicking it. I was relieved to find that other targets had the same: that made me really sure. You never know if it’s a bug. And of course you can’t really mention it to anyone, and if you did who’s going to believe you?”

It’s the combination of the two: the other events that are happening in your life and the oddities on screens that give you absolutely not a doubt: these things, of yours, are now the property of the Make Police.
