The LAN Transformer, 72:18

I am now quite sure — seventy percent -
I have identified the LAN transformer,
which, I think, with lower certainty,
is less important than the LAN controller.
Beside me on the sofa arm, there sit
a red-ink pen, a mini-torch, a pad,
shaving blades, a plectrum, network card,
sheets of paper (loose), a screwdriver,
one earplug and a piece of dark grey plastic
meant for covering a network port.
With care at first and then more doggedly,
I run a blade across the LAN transformer’s
caterpillar legs to free the chip.
I saw with the blade until a gap occurs
between the microchip and circuit board.
