It occurs to me I could now use the Blackberry again and find that old particular staccato rhythm. I listen for that melody, the one I knew back then for quite some time, to try and reproduce it — shortened words and simple phrases. If I can create now on the laptop screen, then obviously the Blackberry should be fine. Less immediate, mind you, for publishing. I’d have to play with files. But still, I am excited now again about the possibilities. It’s like I’ve only just discovered art. A screen again. The one big limitation is the need to publish quick, for copyright.

Meanwhile, should I find that older rhythm now again? For the sake of readers? And forget the self-indulgence of big words? No, this older rhythm in itself is limiting. The aim must be to write to satisfy oneself, and part of that is rhythm. Indulge, and never mind the reader. If it pleases me, the reader will be pleased.
